Construction production fell in June across the euro area and EU

Eurostat's first estimate, released on 20 August, shows seasonally adjusted construction production fell by 1.3% in the euro area and 1.0% in the EU in June 2026 compared with May.

In the euro area, building construction fell 0.9%, civil engineering 1.4% and specialised construction activities 1.8%. Year on year, total output decreased 0.7% in the euro area but increased 0.2% in the EU.

Member States moved in different directions, so the aggregate does not describe every local market. It is a cycle indicator rather than a forecast for a particular project or company.
